10 November 2010

Rainy day from our up-high house
Sliding knees all over the tiles
And stealing leaves from Mummy's gardenia
While across the boats, the lightning cracks
Glass shivers into the sky.

Having a big bath now
Brings all sorts of wonders...

8 November 2010

Standing against Mummy's legs.

By eating dirt, sand and crunchy dried leaves.

Matai plays peek-a-boo with Mummy.

1 November 2010

Every morning and evening, the consolation for increasing wHinginess
Is a splash-around in Nanna's big bath. It's an instant mood-changer.
See how fun it is!

In the curtains
At Aunty Sloane's house.

And chasing Elodie eagerly... (though not so efficiently!)

29 October 2010

On a day when Mummy carries Matai for 5 hours on her front
We stop in a cool dark cafe for ice chocolate with Nanna
And Matai practices bouncing, while the others rest their weary legs.

Later, all dressed up for a night at the Japanese restaurant
The wind picks up and throws storm into the sky
While Miro carries Matai on his shoulders
And Daddy walks swiftly behind.

28 October 2010

Matai shares a moment with Nanna on the balcony.

While Miro is excited to watch the trams, trains, helicopters, cars and trucks up there,
Matai is just happy to touch the gently waving lavender and accept soft kisses.

27 October 2010

Instead of crying, today Matai turns to grunting
A large cranky sound when he wants his tea.

26 October 2010

Matai loves standing, standing, standing
And standing-dances with Aunty Melissa and Shuffles,
Three weeks from being born.

25 October 2010

After inspecting houses, the family takes a restful stop
By the bright blue water at Booker Bay
Where Miro urges jellyfish back into the water and fights with noisy ducks,
While Matai munches cookies embraced by Daddy on the pier.

The smiley faces looking back up the street
On a rainy Sydney day.

23 October 2010

Happiness is... standing up at play stations
And munching down on warm bread rolls.

22 October 2010

Turning and twisting like his need to be on his belly is desperate
Mummy takes to distracting him with items during changes
And today finds some flowers that Miro picked on the street.

Matai wastes no time in finding out She Loves Me.

Nanny sneaks Matai his first Tim Tam.

Matai in the hat that Din loves:
His "Polish Refugee Hat".

Every time he spots a lone pigeon.

At Umina Beach.

Noodle markets with Doodee... first blissful dumpling.

13 October 2010

Matai's first actions, on discovering how to move the walker around,
Is to cruise to the oven and steal two coarse, bright dish-cloths
Which, for some reason, he wants to put on his head, over and over again,
And scrunch and chew and stretch and wear again.

When Nanny makes one into a headscarf, he is so happy!

12 October 2010

Matai loves watching Miro play
While seeming to take mental notes about how
He is going to do it himself too, one day...

11 October 2010

When Matai falls asleep in Leelee's arms
He and Miro do a delicate dance to prevent him
From waking when they put him on the bed.

10 October 2010

For a while, Matai was the most popular baby on the block with his car walker,
But after a while, everyone disappeared, and he was left standing at the lights.

9 October 2010

Matai watches Miro cook eggs
With a little bit of jealousy and a lot of interest !

8 October 2010

On a sunny Coastal day
Matai has his first go on the play equipment
Where he loves to stand alone against the coloured bars

And cries when he's taken away!

Spin round and round in Wiggles rides,

On a rainy day Saturday,
After walking around city celebrations,
Tasting the Farmer's Market, Festival cakes and Hyde Park photo exhibits...

And cuddling on Daddy's lap
Makes Matai a happy customer!

Whips away the "Mypad" from under him.

With his cluttered morning eyes,
One hand stretched for Mummy.

And today, pulls himself up on it for the very first time.
