Day Two of our Matai Sensitisation Program

Where we attempt to take him to ridiculously crowded places

And beg for him not to run. Here,

We meet Gran and Pierre for lunch.

Apart from one unfortunate incident

Where Tai kicks a table full of drinks onto Lowan in the pram,

He manages to restrain himself from his desire to run a rampage

Across the shopping centre, and only makes haywire

In the cafe itself.

We're so proud!

Today is a day filled with cuddles, all the cuddles

That Matai asks for, whenever he asks,

And he responds with being beautifully behaved

And happy and smiley and singing softly.

Matai loves chasing the fluffy ducklings

And escaping the mummy duck that retaliates!

Later, we play rolling down the grassy hill

Until a poonami forces a bath in the chilly camp bathroom

Where Tai lets the warm tap drip down his back

And gives us the Lady Di.

At catching the evening ferry to Cockatoo Island

And becomes so hysterical when we're getting off

That Papa has to strap him to his back

To the frantically ecstatic calls of "Bateau! bateau!"

Today we go see the Picasso exhibition

Where Tai gets to ride on Mummy's back

And he gets excited and points to every sculpture

Asking "touch it? touch it?"

Afterwards we have a picnic lunch in the Botannical Gardens

Cut short by Matai's insistence on chasing birds

Instead of eating sandwiches!

With much begrudging trepidation.

That he cries bitter tears when forced to return to his car seat

But once we get to Putney Park, indulges his delight in running

And two little twins who won't be put down!
